New Mexico is a fascinating state. It has flat land, deserts, amazing mountains and ski areas, quirky art colonies and so much more. Re-visiting was one of the things I was really looking forward to and it did not disappoint me at all. Well other than the whole thing where literally all of the hotels in Tucumcari being completely booked.
The featured image above of a small native American cliff dwelling is a little out of the way jewel that was a joy to visit. From what I have read it was restored and, as you can see, not defaced.
Wide open spaces ... screaming for drone shots
There were so many areas that made me glad that New Mexico drone laws are not as strict as many other states. Land based photos just would not do many of these spaces justice compared to aerials.
360 degree pano, drag the pic to look around
And the not so level
El Morro National Monument
These were my first shots this particular morning right before I headed over to the cliff dwellings. From photos I had seen online I knew I wanted morning light on this one. The one on the right doesn’t quite get it but I didn’t want to wait around. I needed to get to the cliff dwellings.
I’ll end on the cliff dwelling as it really was one of my favorites from the New Mexico part of the trip.
